Matemateaonga Track Tramp
3-4 days
The 3-4 day tramp along the Matemateaonga Range offers stunning views of Mt Ruapehu, Waimarino's farmlands, and lush forests. Following the historic Whakaihuwaka Road, originally built in 1911 to connect Raetihi with the main trunk railway, the track was abandoned during WWI and has since become overgrown. With four well-maintained huts along the way, this hike is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

This Mountain Bike package, created with Whanganui Tours, The Flying Fox, and Rivertime Lodge, offers everything you need for the Mountains to Sea Cycle Trail, including transport, accommodation, meals, bike hire, and jetboat pick-up. After a day’s ride through Mangapurua Valley, relax with a jetboat ride down the Whanganui River to Pipiriki Campground, where you'll stay in comfortable cabins with meals provided. Optional canoeing and further cycling are also available.
